Air-Purifiers & PM2.5 Removal in Classrooms, New Paper in Building and Environment Journal

Indoor air quality is something we often do not think about enough.

This is especially important in public buildings, such as schools and hospitals, and in cities where outdoor air quality is already a serious problem during the winter. Too often, the logic is: if we cannot see it, then it is probably not there. But the consequences affect our health, comfort, concentration, and learning.

In our recently published paper, my colleagues Muhamed Hadziabdic, Adnan Mašić, Bojan Niceno and I looked at the real effects of air purifiers on PM2.5 removal inside a classroom at the International University of Sarajevo by combining measurements with CFD simulations.

The match between the measurements and simulations was surprisingly good, considering the complexity of airflow inside real rooms.

The paper published in Building and Environment journal is open access until July 15: https://lnkd.in/dcuMVvVK
